faceplate added (with a thin veneer of rosewood to give a contrast to the maple veneer in the neck)

all nicely cut out & sanded.

hung up with a coat or two of finish

Making a piezo tunomatic......

I started with a bought tunomatic for a jazz guitar

I cut a chunk of rosewood from a salvaged coffee table

sanded it to size

and milled a slot for the bone saddle & piezo strip
cutouts & heel carving.......

cutouts routed for pickups and a back access hatch then the neck glued into place, and the heel carved and then sanded smooth.

the top has been stained with a pale pine dye which will be sanded mostly out again to lift the figure.

Progress on the doublecut......!!!

I've trimmed the horns so now it's a bit more Brian May Red Special in overall shape.......

I tried a single coat of clear finish to see the figure......

neck assembled and cut out.....

and the electronics have arrived from those lovely folks at Guitarfetish.com .

the roller bridge will be replaced with a bone saddle with a piezo under it.
