segmented rosette

OK, so the doubleneck and cherry mando are getting well on the road, with both bodies getting a few coats of lacquer to seal them up nicely.

I've cut the ends of the fretboard on the doubleneck and will have the order off tonight for the tuners and the fretboard & tuners for the mando

A little progress here and there........

the doubleneck is bound and the body is ready for sanding. I finished the top and couldn't resist putting on one coat of lacquer... just to see y'know?

the cherry mando has the box closed and I've the binding done on the top edge, but not the bottom yet. The purpleheart rosette is SHOUTING out!! really bright!!

so, back braced (with mahogany) back glued to sides and excess trimmed.

Y'know it's just dawned on me that I started building this for a guy before he's actually asked for it.......

ah well, I'm hooked and if he changes his mind I'll keep it!! if he takes it I'll build another.

Neck & tail blocks glued in place.

The fretboard and bridge SHOULD arrive in the post tomorrow.

I know this as the parcel got caught by the fine people at HM customs who want the VAT paid on the import.

Makes buying from within Europe all the more attractive, right?
