and as Nathan has specified Tru-oil as the finish, I try out a coat or two, just to see......

then the neck and body are brought together and the finishing gets under way properly.....

00 zouk, VERY nearly done.....

the nut is sorted, the frets are NEARLY set though there is a rattle on about #18.... a little wet & dry will sort that.....

still to do?

saddle intonation and that's about it.

the ebony truss rod cover is on



the screws are in the tuners



and it SOUNDS like a zouk!!

fit the pot and put on the lovely wooden knob I got....



round the other end the jack socket hole is drilled



and the combined jack socket/strap button is fitted.



I'll leave it a few days to get used to the tension before I do a final set up.

so much that I went too deep on one binding strip and had to remove it, re stout the slot and fit a new one.

ah well, no BIG disaster!!

the guy who I making this for has asked for a tru-oil finish.

I've used other oil finishes before, but he asks for tru-oil, so he GETS tru-oil...

I found a gun shop high in the hills between my home & work so yeaterday I set off to get some.

the 00 zouk is hanging letting the finish cure. another couple of days and I'll give it a rub down with some fine wet & dry and then another few coats.

the jumbo had a bit more neck shaping done today but nothing worth showing up in a pic....

the cherry OM got a little attention today.....

a new start on a cherry/sitka Octave mandolin.

Glen's Les Paul body got sanded and shaped today.

One of the jobs he's not allowed do as use the router, so I did that for him and rounded the edge top & bottom, then he sanded away all the oxidised outer layers of the wood to leave it looking GORGEOUS!!
